This scripture was given to Moses on Mount Sinai. God knew that His people would be influenced and drawn away from Him by the foreign culture of the land in which they would live. He also knew that His Word would give them the power to resist that influence.
One of Satan’s greatest weapons was, and still is, the subtle enticement exercised by ungodly culture. It’s easy to recognize evil when it has fangs, horns and a pitchfork. When it’s disguised as a gifted and attractive celebrity; or packaged in a catchy beat or in a brilliant movie, the entertaining presentation disguises the impending danger. Familiarity with God’s Word is the best defense against Satan’s deception – and he knows it!
This cunning enemy doesn’t have a monopoly on modern technology – but he certainly knows how to utilize it – and he’s on the job 24/7, working to separate our children from the Lord who loves them. With all of the demands of life in the 21st century, it isn’t possible for us to always “be there” for the children.
That’s why Christian parents and teachers need a Multimedia partner like Love Kids Worldwide. Keep reading to learn how we can help you protect your precious children.
2nd Corinthians 4:4 refers to Satan as “the god of this world”. The Lord Jesus stated in reference to Satan, “the thief comes but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” John 10:10 in Ephesians 6:12, we’re warned, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
Unfortunately, it seems that most modern Christians consider that scripture to be nothing but hyperbole. The 21st century church seems blissfully unaware that we are in the throes of a great war. With little opposition, the enemy of our souls has intensified his attack, utilizing The appeal and speed of modern technology. His primary target is our youth. Consider the changes which have occurred just during your own lifetime. Morally speaking, how much has changed since you were a child? We are called to take responsibility and to protect the weak, especially our children.
Proverbs 10:17 says, “He who keeps instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses correction goes astray.” But how can children keep instruction in a culture which lacks boundaries? How can they know the narrow way that leads to life when billions of dollars are spent to lure them in the wrong direction? At birth, children are innocent and untrained. Before they even learn to form a sentence, they are already targeted with demoralizing media which was designed to destroy their innocence and purity.
Power to the (little) people!
This is why we must begin to empower children – from infancy – with media that reinforces their God ordained identity. Every child must know that he / she is created in the image and likeness of God. We must make this a priority, for it is the only thing that will enable them to withstand the enemy’s attack.
Our modern world is flooded with its’ own definitions of “right” and “good”, and young people around the globe are swept up in that current. The enemy of our souls is marketing his goods directly to our children! It’s on the billboards and in magazines. It infuses music, television and movies. Satan’s messages flood the Internet and all forms of mass media. We live in a trend driven society, pervaded with a “monkey see, monkey do mindset”! Reality TV shows represent today’s trend – although there is little or no true reality in any of them.
In order for our children to grow up to be the men and women that the great Creator intended them to be, it’s imperative that we nourish them – not just with good food – but even more importantly, with the knowledge and strength which can only come from the Word of God.
The True Reality is that God’s Word shows the way to Jesus
6 Jesus said to him, “I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 Unfortunately, young minds are being poisoned against God’s truth. They are being told that God’s Word is nothing but myth; that studying it is “old-fashioned”. Worse yet, they are even told that studying scriptures impairs one’s ability to reason and understand truth!
Young people are conditioned by our culture and modern media to want to be associated only with what they view as “cool” or “chic”. Because the church has not kept up with the changing tides of society, they don’t view the Bible in that light – nor do they see unity and love in the body of Christ. It’s crucial that we remember, society’s notions about God’s Word could not be further from the truth. Reality is that His Word is always relevant. Using their terminology, it’s “in”.
We cannot – and we should not – deny the reality that the Bible is ancient and was written thousands of years ago. Yet we should emphasize that it contains the answers to all of life’s questions; past, present and future. In other words, it remains as up-to-date as tomorrow’s sunrise. It is true that the church needs to change – but the details which should change are our methods of presenting the Word of God. We should boldly and unashamedly teach His Word to our children. In order to teach it effectively, we must exemplify it in our private lives! This means that our children should see and hear the impact of God’s Word in our daily living.
The enemy of our souls spares no expense in creating content that is designed to molest the minds of our children, robbing them of their innocence. It’s imperative that the Church, Christian Teachers, and individual Christian parents be willing to be equally extravagant in our investment in the protection of our most vulnerable assets – our children!
The heart of the child
We should remember that is the heart of the child which we ourselves so desperately need. Our Lord taught, “Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3
If we do not begin to counter balance the demoralizing media which is constantly bombarding our little ones, we will find that we have no examples remaining of God’s ideal “child’s heart”!
As followers of Christ, we must wake up to the reality of the enemy’s attack on our little ones. We must defend them and match the strength of his aggression! We must be willing to invest our resources in this crucial cause, understanding that there is no greater resource than our children!
